Maternal & Newborn Health
“Every birth brings a changed woman into the world, and it is our social responsibility to ensure that this change is a good one.”
- Nora Imlau
Through offering an extra set of hands, creating valuable educational resources, and providing supportive postnatal care to families in need, ACORN Northern Iraq is committed to seeing the well being of infants, and mothers be the best that it can be.

Shoulder to Shoulder in the Dohuk Public Hospital
Seeing ways to assist, and support the local healthcare system to provide the best possible care for mothers and infants, ACORN Northern Iraq began volunteering in the Dohuk Public Hospital in 2022.
With an optimistic outlook, ACORN's internationally trained midwives have come alongside local hospital management and personnel, providing hands on training opportunities to build bridges between the knowledge and practice, helping them become more powerfully equipped as they serve the communities around them.

The Whole Women Initiative
Collaborating with the Noor Center in Dohuk, The Whole Woman Initiative exists to bring outstanding postnatal care to mothers, and babies in need. Currently working in five Yizidi Refugee Camps with nine local staff, the Whole Woman Initiative is passionate about educating mothers and families in caring for their infants. Yielding women vital knowledge that they would not otherwise have access to, the Whole Woman Initiative creates engaging, online, educational films in Shingali and Arabic which have had a widespread impact throughout the region.

Me and My Baby
Meandmybaby is an online education platform that was created to make basic health literacy available in the local dialect of refugees who would be otherwise unable to access this information, placing power back in their own hands to make the best possible choices for their children, and serving them on their motherhood journey.
